My (Almost) Birthday Boy

Exactly one week before his first birthday, we threw Miles a party.

Today was a success and a hit. I’m exhausted, worn out, and over heated but it was all worth it. A local highschool gal took photos of the party and I’ll have them to share sometime next week. It was *so* nice to be able to simply enjoy the moment without having to worry about getting photos to document this milestone.

Miles has been taking little unassisted steps since he was 8.5 months old, but this is the first time I got a video of it and OF COURSE he nearly ran across the entire living room. What is my life coming to? I need another baby ASAP.

First Endorsed Food Experience

After going after cat food, swatting at spoons and finally sobbing when we ate in front of him, Miles got his first taste of something other than milk. Well, first endorsed taste. There were occasions that I couldn’t pull him back soon enough from the cat bowl. And there was the time he got into Ella’s applesauce and shoveled it in by the fistful while snorting with glee.

That being said, cheerios and peaches hit the spot last week!

In the end, I’d say he was pretty proud of himself. Wouldn’t you?

What Is This??

What is this? Seriously?

The very next evening, he was actually crawling purposely around the living room. Ella FREAKED OUT when he got into her special ponies. I’m not ready for this. Not one bit.

And then this weekend? He popped his third tooth, but not just any tooth. It was his EYETOOTH. At least, I think it is. It’s either his eyetooth or the tooth between the front and the eyetooth. But to be honest, it really doesn’t matter which one it is — he looks like a baby vampire. Which if we were rolling like Bella and Edward, his name would be Joneven (John + Steven). It really chaps my hide since I’m totally Team Jacob.

Oh well. It will take a lot more to diminish my love for this snaggle toothed boy.

Bite Me!

I know, I know… I said I’d be taking a break from posting until after we got back but I just HAD to share this bit of news:

Miles, my precious little rolly polly bug boy has cut his FIRST TOOTH. Not only has he cut his first tooth (a bottom tooth) but there is another one trying to pop through right necxt to it AND another one on the top!

Oh my goodness. I can’t call him my toothless old man anymore!
